If the iPad were stolen and we sent a wipe that means the device will never actually wipe, which is concerning on multiple levels. Why does the wipe command not go to iOS devices when the device is locked? Wipe should go regardless. There HAS to be a better way to do this when devices change hands cuz right now when this happens we are forced to restore with itunes or apple configurator. So we tried sending the remove passcode command first then the wipe, except if you don't wait long enough the passcode won't actually be removed from the iPad so right back to where we were. This is a problem with the wipe command as it makes it so you can no longer do anything with it from intune, just says wipe pending, but the device will never get the wipe command until it is unlocked, except we don't know the pass code they used. So if the iPad stays locked, nothing is going to get sent to it. Here is the problem, iOS devices seem to only take changes when unlocked. So I figured we could just wipe the device first before terming the user. Which makes the device go stale in intune since it's no longer licensed. When a user is termed all of their licenses are removed. The problem is when a user leaves the company. They are enrolled through apple business manager, user affinity, sign in with company portal. So running in to a bit of a regular problem here with our iOS devices.
